Max “Steen” Bronstein is a New Orleans-based guitarist who has recorded and performed with numerous artists throughout his career. He specializes in RnB, Funk, Jazz and Gospel styles. He has performed with Grammy-Nominated Jamison Ross, world famous trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Payton, Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph (known for her work with Galactic, Tank and the Bangas), New Orleans vocalist Erica Falls, Blue Note recording artist Gabrielle Cavassa, Trumpeter/vocalist Juice of the world famous Soul Rebels, international touring act Soul Brass Band, saxophonist James Martin, composer and trumpeter Steve Lands, and the “Songbird of New Orleans”- Vocalist Robin Barnes, as well as his original group Slugger formed by acclaimed drummer Terrence “Groove Guardian” Houston. He has performed at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest, French Quarter Fest, Blue Note NYC as well as festivals around the world and in the United States. He has also performed with gospel legends Bishop Paul Morton and Bishop Marvin Sapp. He has also been blessed to share the stage with New Orleans piano star Kyle Roussel, John Michael Bradford, the Preservation Hall Horns, Ivan Neville, John Boutté and Irma Thomas. Max’s recording accolades include numerous recordings with Gospel producer Shawn “Smooth” Willis which charted on the top spots on the Billboard Gospel Charts. Max also has worked frequently with Grammy-winning engineer and producer Reggie “ReggieNic” Nicholas on RnB and Gospel records, and for Disney.
Max also enjoys working with young musicians and mentoring as well as providing lessons and consultation to aspiring musicians of every age and background. He is proud to work with K4K In Harmony as an instructor in their songwriting program. Under the umbrella of the non-profit founded and led by by world-class cellist and Xavier professor Jee-Yeoun Ko, Max is part of an initiative to provide an outlet of musical expression for system-impacted youth. He considers it one of the most rewarding parts of his life in music.
